Interview with Diana

Personal

1. How did you get to work at Assepoester?
Before I worked at Assepoester, I worked in a big bridal shop. I even worked from home for a while, while I made children’s clothing. A bit in the Trix & Rees style which was totally happening back then. But after a while you feel like you want a real work environment with colleagues again. That’s when I came across an advert by Assepoester in the Sunday paper and I applied.

2. Married/ Engaged/ In love /Divorced/Kids?
Married for eleven years and mom of two kids.

3. What are your hobbies?
Sewing of course, watching movies, reading books and I run 2 to 3 times a week.

4. What is your favourite colour?
Red

“I really feel it’s an honour that I am an Assepoester!”

5. What is your favourite movie?
I don’t really have one favourite, but I do like romantic, feelgood movies.

6. Favourite cocktail/drink?
White wine.

7. What music do you like to listen to?
I’m always in for Robbie Williams. Besides that it depends on my mood, really.

8. Finish this sentence: when I grow up, I….
… I hope to be working here still and of course I hope that everyone is in good health and happy! I don’t have many wishes besides those; I’m a very content person!

Assepoester

9. What is it like to be an Assepoester?
Cool! We have a fantastic team. It’s also great that everyone is so young. Yes, I really feel it’s an honour that I am an Assepoester!
A long time ago me and my classmates used to walk by this shop on the way to school and we always stood staring at the shop-window. It’s really great to be working in the shop that you always dreamed about!

10. How do you become an Assepoester? Do you have any advice?
Just be yourself! And of course, you have to know about fashion and have to be able to empathise with people.

11. Most hysterical bridezilla you’ve ever encountered?
It often happens that a dress is a great fit, but that the bride believes otherwise. It’s a hell of a job to try and convince her you are right …
Most often, the brides are not hysterical at all, but the mothers (in law) are. Just the other day we had a very enthusiastic bride in the store who had already picked her dress and returned the next day to show it to her mom. Her mom totally thrashed the dress. That is just such a sad thing to see, because the girl had such a fun time picking it out. We’re always happy if a bride persists and follows her own taste. After all, she is the one that has to wear it, not her mom.

12. How can a client make you happy (present)?
I like the fact that they think of bringing something at all! You can always make me happy with something yummy; a nice piece of chocolate, for instance.

13. Who would you love to have as a client?
I would love to help Wendy van Dijk. I think she is a great personality. And I would also like to help my sister in law to get her wedding dress!

“A long time ago me and my classmates used to walk by
this shop on the way to school and we always stood
staring at the shop-window.”

Arnhem

14. What is so great about Arnhem?
That it’s the hometown of Assepoester!

15. What is your favourite other store in Arnhem?
I like to hunt for bargains in Arnhem and have various places I always go to.

16. What is your favourite restaurant/cafe/club in Arnhem?
It varies. Sometimes I like to go for an Italian restaurant, sometimes I go for a quick pizza and sometimes I just go to a simple bistro. There is more than enough choice here!

Fashion

17. In what kind of dress did you get married yourself?
In a very traditional dress. With a hoop and gloves; the whole shebang. Well, it was something you just did back then; right now I would do it totally differently.
I think I would definitely go for a two-piece, with a stola and tight skirt; not such a wide dress anymore. Maybe I’d go for colour. Maybe even black!

18. What do you find an ugly wedding dress?
A dress with too much of everything. With pearls and palettes and such. A dress that looks like you won it at the fairground, haha!

19. Favourite designer?
I don’t really have a favourite designer. I do believe Dolce & Gabbana always make great things. They have a beautiful style.

20. Who is your style icon?
I don’t have one, but I do think that Caroline Tensen often looks great. Her make-up and hairdo always look great.

21. Worst bargain ever?
I hardly ever buy anything I don’t like! I always try everything on first; that helps!

Love and romance

22. Who are the world’s sexiest people?
My men! George Clooney is also very handsome. I do like real men; they shouldn’t be boys.

23. What is the most romantic thing that ever happened to you?
That I was proposed to in southern France, in a tent. Haha!

24. What is the most romantic way to be proposed to?
When you don’t expect it at all. When I was proposed to, it was a complete surprise. That makes it so romantic.
